It was a great tour! Took lots of pics! Zane was very informative all through out the trip. Was prompt and delivered us back on time. It is an all day adventure so be prepared for a long day. He did prepare snacks and drinks for us and umbrellas or parkas if you need it. The bus was very clean and comfy.

One of the best tours ever
What an excellent way to get to know the Big Island and learn about its unique place on Earth. Our tour guide Eric picked us up on time at our rented villa along with a number of other visitors and we proceeded to spend one of the better days on a tour of the island. Eric is one of the proprietors of the tour, is a degreed geologist and is truly an engaging and friendly person. The tour was excellent which combined both interesting sights and a tremendous amount of local knowledge about lava flows and local history. To say that this was worth the day spent would be to put it mildly. Even at twice the price, I would happily do this again and recommend the tour to anyone.

We had an amazing experience with Hawaii Geo Tours! Our guide, David, was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and friendly—you can truly tell he loves what he does. He’s a wealth of information, and even though the tour is long (about 11 hours from pickup to drop-off), everything ran smoothly and was very well organized. David picked us up right from our hotel, and we got to see so much of the Big Island: a local coffee farm, a stunning black sand beach, a delicious lunch at the famous Volcano House, walking through lava tubes, and down to the coast where the road ends due to lava flow. We also stopped at the Big Island Candy Company and finished the day at beautiful Rainbow Falls. It’s a long day, but the trade off was not feeling rushed. Our group included one boy 6 years old who was naturally antsy but thankfully well behaved, so families with young children should consider the long stretches in the van. That said, it was still a wonderful experience. This tour is a must-do if you’re new to the Big Island. It’s an excellent way to see a wide variety of highlights while learning about the island from a true expert.

Dave was a great guide. Very informative tour. I really enjoyed the geological aspect and lots of information on how the islands were formed and keep growing. Many interesting stops along the way including a walk through a lava tube. Very cool! Great experience!

My boyfriend and I have been in Hawaii for over two weeks and done many tours here, but this by far was our favorite one. We learned so much. David was so incredibly kind and informative. You could tell he genuinely cares about the volcanos, the island, the people and animals who live here, and the guests on the tour. He took the time to get to know everybody and he was SO GOOD with names and remembering people. He knew amazing details and stories about the island and the volcano and the coffee farm. My boyfriend is absolutely fascinated with volcanos and said it was his “once in a lifetime tour.” It was the perfect amount of guests too. Not too crowded. Amazing stops, each one was worthwhile. And- a very comfortable and clean van. DID YOU BOOK??? DO IT!
