Wow! Fantastic tour of the erupting volcano!!! The guides are geologists and explained so much about the volcano and how all the Hawaiian islands were created. The pictures I got during the day, and especially at night were incredible! The food and winery tasting were good too. I’ve done this tour twice in the past year and recommend it highly! I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!! 🤙

It was a great tour! Took lots of pics! Zane was very informative all through out the trip. Was prompt and delivered us back on time. It is an all day adventure so be prepared for a long day. He did prepare snacks and drinks for us and umbrellas or parkas if you need it. The bus was very clean and comfy.

We had a fantastic time on our Hawaii Geo Tour with Eric — even with the rain and crazy fog! Eric kept the experience fun, engaging, and full of incredible information. We also loved so many of his recommendations for places to visit and places to eat; they really helped us make the most of our trip. If you’re worried it’s going to be a “boring rock tour” or involve too much walking, don’t be! The tour is well-paced, exciting, and gives you the chance to see a huge portion of what the island has to offer without feeling overwhelmed. DEAR READER- STOP RIGHT NOW! IF YOU ARE ON THE BIG ISLAND- YOU NEED TO TAKE THIS TOUR!!!!! BOOK IT. David was an INCREDIBLE tour guide. My boyfriend and I have been in Hawaii for over two weeks and done many tours here, but this by far was our favorite one. We learned so much. David was so incredibly kind and informative. You could tell he genuinely cares about the volcanos, the island, the people and animals who live here, and the guests on the tour. He took the time to get to know everybody and he was SO GOOD with names and remembering people. He knew amazing details and stories about the island and the volcano and the coffee farm. My boyfriend is absolutely fascinated with volcanos and said it was his “once in a lifetime tour.” It was the perfect amount of guests too. Not too crowded. Amazing stops, each one was worthwhile. And- a very comfortable and clean van. DID YOU BOOK??? DO IT!

We had an amazing experience with Hawaii Geo Tours! Our guide, David, was incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and friendly—you can truly tell he loves what he does. He’s a wealth of information, and even though the tour is long (about 11 hours from pickup to drop-off), everything ran smoothly and was very well organized. David picked us up right from our hotel, and we got to see so much of the Big Island: a local coffee farm, a stunning black sand beach, a delicious lunch at the famous Volcano House, walking through lava tubes, and down to the coast where the road ends due to lava flow. We also stopped at the Big Island Candy Company and finished the day at beautiful Rainbow Falls. It’s a long day, but the trade off was not feeling rushed. Our group included one boy 6 years old who was naturally antsy but thankfully well behaved, so families with young children should consider the long stretches in the van. That said, it was still a wonderful experience. This tour is a must-do if you’re new to the Big Island. It’s an excellent way to see a wide variety of highlights while learning about the island from a true expert.

Although the excursion lasted approximately 11 hours from pickup to drop-off, the itinerary was seamless, well-coordinated, and thoughtfully organized from start to finish.

David has a vast knowledge of so much of the island it’s amazing and he charmed us with a ton a factoids the whole day. Highly recommend if you are short on time on the island but want to see as much as you can in little time.
